Yes, it was a long weekend indeed, and it goes with out saying: it went by very fast. Fruitful because I have managed to complete two tasks this time.

I got a (phone) call from my friend Sharath, some three months ago. He then just watched The Shawshank Redemption (TSR from now on), very impressed and called me to recommend the movie to me. He also, a bit, forced me to watch it the same day. I said I would try. It was since then lying in my (mental) todo list. Today was the final moment. Speechless I was, for about 30 minutes after the credits scrolled by. Now I understand why he called me from Hyderabad. Incidentally, it is now Top #1 in IMDB. For the past two years, I think, it was lying in position 2, only after The Godfather. With The Dark Knight (TDK from now on) topping the list a few weeks ago, it went to top #3, and after the initial dust of TDK settled, TSR is now top #1. (Ya, spending too much time on internet, that’s how software engineers are)

Second, I managed to submit my first patch to GNU. Thanks to BVK for giving me a simple feature in GRUB2, to experience how development in GNU works. It was something to do with supporting precision in print formatting in grub internal functions. The patch is not yet approved, just posted it.

Oh ya, today Chiranjeevi has announced his much awaited entry into politics. He will be announcing the name of the party, flag and agenda in a public function to be held in Tirupathi on August 26th. I will be very glad even if his entry turns out to have a mere meteoric effect (intense but not long lasting) on uplifting of the downtrodden. Anything above it is always welcome. Let’s hope for the best, though.
